How it works
An estimate, then a choice.
- You enter a street address, city, state, and ZIP. There is no account.
- We ask a property data service for an estimated value and recorded mortgage information for that address.
- We show the estimated value, the estimated open mortgage balance, and estimated equity. Estimated equity is the estimated value minus that balance.
- We also show an illustration at 80% and 90% combined loan-to-value. Each illustration subtracts the estimated open balance from that percentage of the estimated value. If the result is below zero, the illustration is $0. It is arithmetic on an estimate. It is not an offer of credit.
- If you want a mortgage broker or lender to contact you, and matching is available for your state, you can submit a request. The contact form is optional. The consent box starts unchecked.
What we do not do
- We do not appraise the home.
- We do not run a title search. The open balance may not include every lien.
- We do not ask for a Social Security number, and we do not pull your credit. A credit range, if you give one, is self-reported.
- We do not lend money. A partner who contacts you later is not making an offer by appearing in an estimate.
Where matching is unavailable
At launch, partner matching is not available in Connecticut or New York. The blocked-state list is a server setting. If your address is in a blocked state, the page says so and does not save a lead for matching. When the lookup itself is free to run, the estimate can still be shown and is labeled as an estimate.
